The Newlight Name I am often asked where the name
Newlight came from. Newlight is my heritage. My mother grew up in Louisiana
where all the plantations have names. Our family plantation home sits
overlooking the Tensas River in northeast Louisiana. Tradesmen's traveled up
and down the Tensas River to the Mississippi River. They named the plantation
Newlight as it was the first house around the bend of the river to have the
“new lights”. Although there have been many changes Newlight Plantation since
the early days of it’s name, the name still stands today, along with the
original house. |
